Internal Complaint Committee
The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is constituted to ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students, faculty, and staff. The committee is committed to preventing, prohibiting, and addressing complaints related to sexual harassment while promoting a campus and workplace culture founded on dignity, equality, and mutual respect.
The ICC functions in accordance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) and other applicable statutory guidelines. It serves all our constituent schools, including the School of Dental Science, School of Pharmacy, School of Nursing, School of Management, School of Computer Applications, School of Industrial Training Institute (ITI), and School of Education.
Objectives
- ◉ Provide a safe, secure, and inclusive environment free from sexual harassment.
- ◉ Ensure prompt, fair, impartial, and confidential redressal of complaints.
- ◉ Promote awareness about the prevention and prohibition of sexual harassment.
- ◉ Protect the dignity, rights, and well-being of every student, faculty member, and employee.
- ◉ Foster a culture of equality, respect, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
Scope of the Committee
The Internal Complaints Committee addresses complaints related to:
- ◉ Sexual harassment at the workplace or on campus.
- ◉ Unwelcome physical, verbal, non-verbal, or written conduct of a sexual nature.
- ◉ Inappropriate remarks, gestures, comments, or behaviour.
- ◉ Unwanted emails, messages, phone calls, or communication through social media or digital platforms.
- ◉ Stalking, intimidation, coercion, or behaviour that creates a hostile or unsafe environment.
- ◉ Any other conduct that violates the dignity, safety, or rights of an individual under applicable laws and institutional policies.
Complaint Redressal Process
- 1. Submission of Complaint
A complaint may be submitted in writing through the online complaint portal or directly to the Internal Complaints Committee.
- 2. Preliminary Review
The committee acknowledges the complaint, conducts a preliminary review, and initiates appropriate proceedings while ensuring complete confidentiality.
- 3. Inquiry
The ICC conducts a fair, impartial, and confidential inquiry by providing all concerned parties with an opportunity to present their statements and supporting evidence.
- 4. Resolution
Based on the findings of the inquiry, the committee recommends appropriate action in accordance with institutional policies, the POSH Act, 2013, and other applicable laws.
- 5. Confidentiality
The identity of the complainant, respondent, witnesses, and all proceedings are kept strictly confidential to protect the privacy, dignity, and rights of everyone involved.
