Student Discipline Policy

Our institution is committed to maintaining a disciplined, respectful, and academically enriching environment that supports the holistic development of every student. The Student Discipline Policy is designed to promote responsible behaviour, ethical conduct, and mutual respect among all members of the academic community.

This policy applies to students across all our constituent schools, including the School of Dental Science, School of Pharmacy, School of Nursing, School of Management, School of Computer Applications, School of Industrial Training Institute (ITI), and School of Education. Every student is expected to uphold the values, rules, and regulations of the institution throughout their academic journey.

Objectives

  • ◉ Foster a culture of discipline, integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
  • ◉ Maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and student-friendly campus environment.
  • ◉ Encourage responsible behaviour, accountability, and self-discipline.
  • ◉ Promote respect for faculty, staff, fellow students, patients, visitors, and institutional property.
  • ◉ Ensure compliance with institutional policies, statutory regulations, and professional standards.

Code of Conduct

All students are expected to:

  • ◉ Attend classes, practical sessions, laboratory work, workshops, clinical postings, internships, and examinations regularly and punctually.
  • ◉ Maintain discipline and decorum within classrooms, laboratories, libraries, workshops, hostels, transportation facilities, and all campus premises.
  • ◉ Show courtesy, respect, and professionalism towards faculty members, staff, patients, visitors, and fellow students.
  • ◉ Wear the prescribed uniform, laboratory coat, safety gear, and identity card wherever applicable.
  • ◉ Maintain cleanliness and help preserve institutional infrastructure and property.
  • ◉ Follow all academic, administrative, examination, and library regulations.
  • ◉ Use digital platforms, institutional resources, and social media responsibly and ethically.
  • ◉ Comply with the institution’s Anti-Ragging Policy, Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) guidelines, and all other statutory policies.

Prohibited Conduct

The following actions are strictly prohibited:

  • ◉ Ragging in any form.
  • ◉ Physical violence, bullying, intimidation, harassment, or abusive behaviour.
  • ◉ Discrimination based on gender, religion, caste, ethnicity, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
  • ◉ Possession, consumption, or distribution of alcohol, tobacco, narcotic drugs, or other prohibited substances on campus.
  • ◉ Damage to institutional property, vandalism, theft, or misuse of resources.
  • ◉ Academic misconduct, including cheating, plagiarism, forgery, or examination malpractice.
  • ◉ Possession of weapons or involvement in unlawful or criminal activities.
  • ◉ Any behaviour that disrupts academic activities, threatens campus safety, or tarnishes the reputation of the institution.

Disciplinary Procedure

The institution follows a fair, transparent, and impartial process for handling disciplinary matters:

  • ◉ Receipt of a complaint or report of misconduct.
  • ◉ Preliminary review by the concerned authority or disciplinary committee.
  • ◉ Opportunity for the student to present their explanation.
  • ◉ Investigation and evaluation of the matter based on available evidence.
  • ◉ Decision and appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with institutional policies.
  • ◉ Communication of the final decision to the student and maintenance of relevant records.

Disciplinary Actions

Depending on the nature and severity of the misconduct, disciplinary action may include:

  • ◉ Verbal or written warning.
  • ◉ Counselling, mentoring, or corrective guidance.
  • ◉ Monetary penalty for damage to institutional property, where applicable.
  • ◉ Suspension from academic, extracurricular, clinical, laboratory, or workshop activities.
  • ◉ Suspension from classes, hostel, or campus facilities.
  • ◉ Withholding of academic privileges, scholarships, or examination eligibility, where permitted by institutional regulations.
  • ◉ Expulsion from the institution in cases of serious or repeated misconduct.
  • ◉ Reporting the matter to the appropriate statutory or legal authorities, wherever required.

Student Responsibilities

Every student shares the responsibility of maintaining a positive campus environment by:

  • ◉ Following institutional rules, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • ◉ Respecting the rights, dignity, and diversity of others.
  • ◉ Reporting incidents of misconduct, harassment, discrimination, or unsafe behaviour.
  • ◉ Cooperating with institutional authorities during disciplinary proceedings.
  • ◉ Acting as responsible ambassadors of the institution both on and off campus.
